About the Artist

And so the artist’s journey begins here… again… because I lost my directions and my mental and spiritual bones have a few fractures. Skip the replay, hit the reset.

I’m Taren, an introverted, never-show-your-work, coulda-done-that-better kind of artist. Every day is a struggle to continue pursuing my craft, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, perseverance eclipses talent. And that brings me here, to this little corner of the internet.

If you understand the on-going struggle of the artist’s life, then pull up a chair, grab a cup of tea, crank up the music, and let’s kick fear square in the teeth so we can start creating something.

About Nightsong Studio

The name “Nightsong” is inspired from Scripture:

By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life. I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?” My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?” Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. (Psalm 42:8-11)

This psalm resonated with me because I felt my heart screaming those exact words during a particularly hard time in my life. I felt forgotten and neglected. But this passage reminded me that, although God doesn’t always remove the hardship, He has not abandoned us even in our deepest ocean of doubt. Instead, He is by our side singing lullabies to us in the night.

“We are reminded of His hope through songs in the night before we meet it face to face with the coming dawn.”

But this song isn’t a solo, it’s a duet. God gives us a song to sing to him as well. In the book of Job, God is referred to as the one “who gives songs in the night”. He gives you a song to sing back to him so that your joy may be restored.

“I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, And my spirit makes diligent search.” (Psalms 77:6)
